30 day vocal challenge
We love a good challenge and a little structure, so in the spirit of #tiktokchallenges, I offer you 5 simple daily tasks to complete over a 30 day period. I promise, if you are honestly completing daily skill exercises you will undoubtedly see improvement.
- Take a short audio recording or video recording of yourself singing (pick 1-2 pieces to repeat regularly for continuity through the challenge)
- Spend 15 minutes per day warming up &/or performing vocal exercises.
- Spend 15 minutes per day studying your repertoire.(e.g. sing the piece you will record, watch videos of other artists singing the same piece, study the language for the piece, write in solfeggio or counts on the music, translate all musical markings, break down difficult passages of music)
- Read 10 pages (or listen to 15 min of audiobook) of a book to improve your artistry. For example, read a musician’s biography, music history or psychology book, artist inspiration/motivation books, etc… (I’ll link favorites below)
- Drink plenty of water (0.5-1 oz/Lb, about 100oz of water per day is probably satisfactory for most singers, mindful of your needs, hot weather, sweat/daily exercise exertion
